Consider Becoming a Mentor

One of the most rewarding experiences is becoming a mentor, to know that you have truly made a difference in the life of a young person. Here, at AMF, we are always in search of mentors to become part of our team.

Mentorship is the foundation of community - we are better as a group when we become mentors. But why become a mentor? There are many reasons:

  1. Give back to the community: Becoming a mentor is a way to give back to society, contribute positively to the lives of young people, and make a difference in your community.

  2. Personal growth and development: Being a mentor means taking on a leadership role, which can help you develop your own skills and abilities. It's an opportunity to grow in your field or industry as you share your knowledge and insights with your mentee.

  3. Make a difference: Mentoring can have a lasting impact on the life of the person being mentored. By passing on your experience and helping them understand their own potential, you can help them achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

  4. Networking opportunities: Mentors and mentees often form strong connections that can expand networks, open up new opportunities, and provide ongoing support and guidance throughout each other's careers. Also, did you know that more jobs are obtained in Calgary by those you know and not what you know? By mentoring, you can connect with many more people and provide a character quality that is not found in other places.

  5. Satisfaction and fulfillment: Mentoring can be a rewarding experience, as it can provide a sense of fulfillment and purpose in knowing that you are making a positive difference in someone's life and contributing to a better world.

  6. Learning from the mentee: Mentoring is a two-way learning experience. You can gain valuable insights and perspectives from the mentee, who brings different experiences and ideas to the table.

  7. Building a legacy: As a mentor, you can help shape the next generation of people as well as contribute to the message of the organization for whom you work. You are not just doing this for yourself, but for those you represent. Mentoring can create a lasting legacy for yourself, your organization, and your field.
